Transformation Tuesday

At the end of 2016 I decided I had to get a handle on my weight. I was the heaviest I had ever been and was no longer comfortable in my own skin. Here are my results so far…

So here’s what I did, I changed my lifestyle. I started tracking everything I ate and my water intake and I signed up for kickboxing classes. That’s it.

I track my food and water through my Fitbit app. It gives me a really clear picture of how much I’m eating calorie and macro wise. Plus since it’s tracking my exercise it shows how much I’ve burned too. Plus it has most of your name brand restaurants and grocery items preloaded into the app so it’s very time efficient.

But I didn’t give up my favorite foods. I still eat pizza and Whataburger, but I eat fewer slices and I order the Jr burger. But I don’t eat them nearly as often as I was. But I’m a firm believer that you can be healthy and hit your goal weight with a cheat meal every now and then. I am not a rabbit so a salad for every meal would never work out. I look for foods high in protein and as much as I love bread and I do cut it out when I can.

Weight loss is pretty simple, less calories in and more calories out. That’s where kickboxing came in. I had done research that kickboxing was one of the best cardio workouts that you could do. So when I got a flyer in the mail it was a no brainer to sign up. I’ve been going for less than a year and my results are beyond anything I expected. Stay tuned for a future post all about my new love of kickboxing.

At 25 years old I will say that this is probably the first time since I learned what body image was that I have been comfortable in my own skin. That’s because I haven’t just lost weight. I’ve become healthier and that crosses over into all parts of my life. So if you’re on this lifetime journey keep going but make sure to stop for ice cream every once in a while.
