ILKB is the Place for Me!

In January of 2017 I decided that I really needed to get a handle on my weight and my health. I was newly engaged and didn’t want to look back on wedding pictures and wish I’d done something when I had the chance. Then, I come home to a flyer in the mail for an ILoveKickboxing.com studio just up the street from me. It seemed too much like fate not to try it, and the trial was only $20.00 so I figured if I didn’t like it it would be no great loss. I signed up for my first class with a friend of mine and we walked in not knowing what to expect.

On your first day they set you up with a “first day friend” to help you learn the basics. The first fifteen minutes of the class are a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout, which I almost died in. I hadn’t sweated that much in years! Then you go into bag rounds where you are doing the actual punching and kicking, which is my favorite part, and then you close with partner conditioning drills.

So now, almost a year later, I am still there and here’s why; it’s literally the best! The workout, the atmosphere, and the people are second to none. To want to work out and to be motivated by, literally, everyone standing around you is a feeling that I had never experienced before ILKB. It’s one of those places that it doesn’t matter if you had the best day or the worst day you’re going to leave the studio feeling good about yourself. It’s refreshing to want to go to the gym after work and not dread it. And don’t think that people don’t notice if you’re not there, they do. You create these relationships with people that you just don’t get anywhere else. These people are there working on their goals but they are just as eager to push you toward yours.
