Hey y’all! We are back from our honeymoon and lovin’ married life! We spent our honeymoon in sunny San Diego, California. Neither of us had been to Cali before so we felt like it would be a great place to vacation and relax after months of wedding planning. We were right!

Where to Stay
We stayed at the cutest boutique hotel – The Sofia Hotel. The location was great for us and easily accessible to Lyft and Uber, which we used a lot! It’s not right on the water but still close enough to feel the breeze while walking around.
What to Do
San Diego Zoo – We LOVE the zoo! Anytime we go anywhere we always check out the zoo. We were there for almost nine hours and just barely saw everything. We walked almost 6 miles that day so definitely wear comfy shoes! We’re big animal lovers so this was definitely a highlight for both of us. Plus, they have red pandas which are my absolute favorite animal!

USS Midway Museum – This is something we actually just stumbled upon. We were walking to the pier at the end of the street our hotel was on and saw this HUGE ship. Admission wasn’t too expensive so we decided to go through it. It was really cool to get to walk through this whole ship; it’s so massive I’m not convinced we saw everything. Plus the views from the deck were incredible. After we went through the museum I learned that my uncle had actually served on that ship so it meant even more to me.
La Jolla Beach – This was so cool! If you’ve never heard of La Jolla this is why you should go – there are SEA LIONS and SEALS that are close enough to touch! It was pretty surreal and majestic to be that close to a wild animal in its natural habitat. This was the first day we went to the beach so we went and saw the sea lions and then hopped in the water – it was freezing!
Coronado Island – We got so many recommendations to go here! Everyone was telling us that we definitely needed to visit and we are so glad that we did! We took a short ferry trip over to the island and spent the day shopping in the the little shops, getting lost in the residential areas, having lunch at Hotel del Coronado, and soaking up some sun at the beach. This area is absolutely breathtaking and relaxing. The sunburns were definitely worth it! Ryan even sang Taylor Swift on the beach after one too many margaritas!
Petco Park – If you’re a baseball fan, much like my husband, Petco Park is definitely worth the price of admission. We went to a baseball game because the stadium actually wasn’t but a few miles from our hotel and we loved it! It was very different from the stadium here in Arlington and it was nice to be at a game and it not be 100 degrees outside.
Where to Eat
The Donut Bar – We loved this place so much we actually ate here twice for breakfast. These donuts were worth the wait in the line that was always out the door. I definitely recommend the Oreo birthday cake (pictured) and The Homer (not pictured).
Top of the Market San Diego – Talk about lunch with a view! Ryan is a big seafood fan so we had to get some fresh swordfish tacos of course! Not pictured is the crab cake we basically inhaled – it was so good!
Extraordinary Desserts – This was a recommendation from our Lyft driver. On Wednesdays they set up an all-you-can-eat cheese buffet – so we had cheese for dinner. If you know me then you know that I was in heaven – cheese and chocolate cake, there’s nothing better! The desserts are definitely big enough to share but we still each got our own!
Hotel del Coronado – This was probably one of my favorite meals we had! It was simple – tacos and burgers, and margaritas of course, but the view couldn’t be beat and if you watched my Insta stories from this lunch, you know we had a good time! This was definitely a splurge lunch, but well worth it!
What to Wear
Sweaters! I wore a lot of sweaters and a lot of workout capris during our trip. Ryan is very hot natured and he even got cold a couple of times. The weather is perfect all the time! We went casual during the day and dressed up a little when we went out to dinner at night. We wore a little bit of everything; shorts, jeans, dresses, t-shirts, etc. So I feel like you really couldn’t go wrong. Also, wear a lot of sunscreen. We did not and paid for it later; just because you aren’t hot doesn’t mean the sun isn’t beating down on you. Protect yourself!
We had a blast in Cali and can’t wait to go back! Well I feel like it wouldn’t be a proper ending to the post if I didn’t say it – stay classy San Diego…and thanks for letting us stop by!
XOXO Britt
Love this! Looks like you did some really fun stuff. We’re based in San Diego and love living here. One of our favorite restaurants is Crack Shack – amazing fried chicken sandwiches!
